Because of a degrading video, a YouTube creator has been banned from social media for five years. In addition, he took a prison sentence of 15 months and must pay his victim a compensation of 20,000 euros.

21-year-old Kanghua Ren, known as ReSet, filmed himself in 2017, giving a pack of „Oreo“ cookies and 20 euros to a homeless man in Barcelona. From the biscuits he had previously removed the cream layer and replaced with toothpaste. The homeless man accepted the biscuits, ate them – and had to vomit a little later.

The video of the incident brought ReSet, who was born in China and grew up in Spain, on his YouTube channel. The outcry was not long in coming, ReSet removed the recording after a few days. The daughter of the victim he reportedly paid 300 euros to prevent a lawsuit – unsuccessful.

Repeats „cruel behavior“

ReSet itself stated in court that it was just a bad joke. But judge Rosa Aragones judged that it was not an isolated case. Also in other videos, Ren has shown „cruel behavior“ against „easy or vulnerable victims,“ Spanish media quoted in the verdict. In addition, the moral integrity of the homeless had been violated.

The fact that ReSet has to go to jail, however, is unlikely. In Spain, people who violate the law for the first time are generally under two years in prison for non-violent crimes.
