On the Black Sea peninsula of Crimea, there have been further arrests for suspected terrorism, according to the Russian domestic intelligence agency FSB. Explosives tested on cats

The two students had ordered the individual parts for this on the Internet, the message said. They would have tested the explosive power on cats. The FSB published a video that shows the two teenagers and masked police officers.

The city of Kerch hit the headlines in October 2018 when an 18-year-old shot at a vocational school and detonated an explosive device. He and 20 other people died. The now arrested were followers of „the extremist ideology“ of the gunman, the FSB said. One of them has given plans for an attack.

Several people arrested

In the past few weeks, the police have arrested several people in Crimea, who are accused of having planned attacks or spying for Ukraine.

The security situation in Crimea is considered tense because Russia had incorporated the peninsula in 2014 against international protest. Ukraine has since been demanding their return. Since the annexation, the Russian military has significantly expanded its presence in the Crimea to prevent attacks, for example.
