Supporters of the „yellow west“ movement have once again taken to the streets across France. In Paris, two protest trains set off for lunch with thousands of participants in the Arc de Triomphe across the Champs-Elysees towards the Eiffel Tower.

In front of the Château de Loire Chambord, where President Emmanuel Macron celebrated his 40th birthday at the end of December 2017, other „yellow vests“ gathered in spring weather for a mass picnic.

Other rallies were planned, inter alia, in Rennes, Toulouse and Bordeaux. In Clermont-Ferrand, where around 3,000 people from all over the region were expected, most shops remained closed, and concerts and shows were canceled. For 300,000 euros, the city had all benches, parking meters, trash and other objects that could serve as a litter box, dismantle.

In Grenoble shortly before the start of new protests the local leader of the „yellow vests“, Julien Terrier, and his comrade Jerome Bouzendorffer were taken into police custody. Among other things, the prosecution accused them of organizing an undeclared demonstration.

It is the 15th rally Saturday since protests began in mid-November. The social movement calls for the resignation of President Macron and a departure from his reform course. However, the participation has recently declined: last Saturday, the Ministry of the Interior counted 41,500 participants, of whom around 5,000 were in Paris. Three months ago, the biggest „yellow west“ protests were still more than 280,000 protesters.
