Chinese President Xi Jinping met in Beijing on Wednesday with his Ecuadorian counterpart Lenín Moreno.
Xi Ecuador described as a reliable friend and partner of China. China welcomed Ecuador’s participation in the Silk Road Initiative to work together to promote cooperation in infrastructure construction, industrial capacity, agriculture, information technologies, new energy and environmental protection. Chinese investment and co-operation was based on the principle of equality and mutual benefit and was not associated with any political conditions, Xi continued.
Moreno expressed his country’s willingness to participate actively in the Silk Road Initiative and the hope of expanding exports to China.
Following the conversation, a Memorandum of understanding on the joint promotion of the Silk Road Initiative and other cooperation documents were signed in the presence of both heads of state.
