Violence in Afghanistan has increased

According to a report, the armed conflict between the militant Islamist Taliban and the Afghan government has escalated. In the third quarter of this year there were on average about twice as many attacks per day as in the previous quarter, said the US Inspector General for Reconstruction in Afghanistan.

Since September, the Taliban have been negotiating peace with a government delegation in the Qatari capital Doha. But the violence in the country continues, especially in the provinces, many people are still dying in fighting.

The US signed an agreement with the Taliban at the end of February that provides for the gradual withdrawal of all NATO forces. In return, the Taliban committed, among other things, to the peace talks with the Afghan government, which have been going on since September 12. According to the UN Mission to Afghanistan (UNAMA), 2,117 civilians had been killed and 3,822 injured in the country as of October this year.
