Venezuela’s secret service arrests Guaido’s chief of staff

In Venezuela, according to opposition figures, the chief of staff of the self-proclaimed Transitional President Juan Guaido has been arrested. Guaido’s office announced today that Roberto Marrero had been taken away by intelligence agents.

Opposition leader Guaido wrote on the short message service Twitter, the intelligence agency in the early morning hours, the apartments Marreros and the opposition deputy Sergio Vergara searched. Vergara operated the search but denied information from Guaido’s office that he had been arrested.

Head of State Nicolas Maduro and Guaido have been delivering themselves for weeks a bitter power struggle. Numerous countries, including the US, Germany and Austria, have already recognized Guaido as the rightful transitional president.
