Venezuela: Guaido reappeared

0

After days of confusion over his whereabouts, Venezuela’s opposition leader Juan Guaido has apparently reappeared. Employees of the self-proclaimed interim president yesterday released videos showing Guaido on the streets of the capital, Caracas.

„They are the ones who are hiding,“ said Guaido in one of the videos about President Nicolas Maduro and other government officials, the United States of which has billed millions in bounty. „I show my face.“

On the video, Guaido wears a mask and gloves to protect against the new corona virus and talks to drivers whose vehicles he walks along. When and where the recordings were made is not clear from the videos.

Diplomatic dispute with France

A diplomatic dispute over Guaido’s whereabouts has flared up between Venezuela and France in recent days: According to the South American country’s foreign minister, Guaido is said to have sought refuge in the French embassy in Caracas, which Paris immediately denied.

The opposition politician is not on the embassy site, a spokeswoman for the French Foreign Ministry said on Friday. The government in Caracas has been „repeatedly confirmed“.
