Seven months after the departure of Nikki Haley, the United States once again received a UN ambassador: The US Senate yesterday confirmed President Donald Trump’s nominee Kelly Craft as new chief diplomat at the UN with 56 to 34 votes.

Craft was previously US Ambassador to Canada. The opposition Democrats in the Senate had certified the 57-year-old at their hearing lack of experience for the post. Haley had left the office late last year for personal reasons.

Craft was an entrepreneur in the US state of Kentucky before her time as US Ambassador to Canada. She is married to Joe Craft, a billionaire businessman from the coal industry.
