A local politician from Texas has insulted Democrat Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as a „chick“, causing a storm of protest.
Richardson City Council Scott Dunn wrote in the short message service Twitter in a response to Ocasio-Cortez’s criticism of US President Donald Trump’s speech on the state of the nation that the young Latina was a „chick with no guts“.
Sorry and account deleted
Dunn could hardly save himself from criticism. He published an apology and deleted his Twitter account.
„The words I used were insulting,“ the local politician wrote. „I’m responsible for my own words and actions.“ He apologized to anyone who found his statement offensive. The mayor of Richardson also spoke up and warned politeness.
Ocasio-Cortez, figurehead of the Democrats
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has recently joined the US House of Representatives. She is a figurehead of the left wing of the Democrats. The 29-year-old is a lot in social media as „AOC“ itself. She often publishes messages on Twitter multiple times a day, or shares her followers on Instagram with her experiences as a congressman.
