The British Parliament is due to vote on new proposals from Prime Minister Theresa May on Brexit on 29 January. This will be preceded by a full-day debate, said today the leader of the Conservative Party, Andrea Leadsom.

She confirmed that on Monday, eight days before, May will present her revised proposals to withdraw from the EU and make a statement. Parliament had rejected the previous May agreement by a clear majority on Tuesday. It is unclear what changes the Prime Minister will propose.

Barnier: EU open to broader agreement

Meanwhile, the EU, in the words of its chief negotiator Michel Barnier, is ready for an agreement with Britain that goes beyond free trade. „If they tell us that they want more far-reaching relationships, then we are open to it,“ said Barnier in Lisbon.
