In the midst of the global fight against the coronavirus, the United Nations launched the “International Day for Preparing for Epidemics”. This should take place annually on December 27, according to a resolution passed yesterday. On this day, people should be made aware of the dangers of epidemics, for example through information events, and the preparations for such should be checked.

The resolution was passed immediately before the first anniversary of the start of the CoV pandemic: On December 8, 2019, the first diseases were discovered in Wuhan, China, which the World Health Organization (WHO) subsequently classified as the first infections with the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 were. Since then, around 67 million people have been infected worldwide and more than 1.53 million people have died.
