Begins as a normal beauty tip – and is the harsh political criticism of China’s dealings with the Muslim minority of the Uighurs: A student from the United States has caused a stir with a video in the Chinese service TikTok worldwide.

First, Feroza Aziz explains how to get long eyelashes before she asks her audience to find out on the smartphone about the repression of the minority by the regime in Beijing.

„Muslims in concentration camps“

China throws „innocent Muslims“ into „concentration camps“, „separates their families, kidnaps them, murders them, rapes them, forces them to eat pork and drink alcohol.“ Furthermore, Beijing forces Muslims to convert to another religion, „and if not, they will be murdered.“The video spread very quickly on TikTok, Aziz wrote on Twitter. The Chinese video service then blocked her.

The company rejected the presentation to the BBC. On „political sensitivities“ will be taken in the moderation of contributions no consideration, it said. In the middle of November one blocked however another account of Aziz. Reason was a video that violated the rules regarding the distribution of terrorist content.

Secret documents show internment system

On Sunday, documents classified as secretive by the Chinese government revealed the largely inhumane conditions in camps in the province of Xinjiang, home to the Uyghur minority. The China Cables were published by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists.

According to the UN, at least one million Uighurs and members of other Muslim minorities are interned in the camps in Xinjiang. The Chinese leadership has always refused to systematically oppress people.

EU is concerned about reports

The EU was concerned about reports of internment camps. The new President of the Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, wants to call the political leadership in Beijing on her first day of work on Sunday, reports the German „world“. The topic of human rights should also be addressed. The EU Parliament also wants to deal with the reports.
