In Germany, the Greens, the Left and the FDP have agreed on a specific order for the parliamentary committee of inquiry into the multi-billion Wirecard accounting scandal. This should be published in full on Thursday in Berlin, said FDP finance politician Florian Toncar in front of journalists today.
The application still needs the approval of the parliamentary groups of the three opposition parties. On Friday, the project should then be dealt with at the first reading in the Bundestag.
With the Greens, the Left and the FDP there are enough votes in the German Bundestag to force a committee of inquiry. He can then view additional files and question other witnesses. The committee of inquiry is likely to drag on well into the election year 2021 and could potentially cause problems for the Union and the SPD – especially finance minister and SPD chancellor candidate Olaf Scholz.
