Two dolphins have paid an unexpected visit to the Italian lagoon city of Venice. The animals swam past the famous St. Mark’s Square in the direction of the Grand Canal today, as reported by several media. The animals didn’t seem to be doing badly, as the Adnkronos news agency wrote. They were reported by several people who were on the water at the time.
Dolphins are not uncommon in Venice, but it is rather uncommon for them to appear on the mostly busy waterways. Because of the pandemic, the volume of traffic in the city, which is otherwise visited by tourist crowds, has decreased noticeably. According to the ANSA news agency, many species of fish have been spotted in Venetian waters that are otherwise not found there.
