For the first time since the introduction of new rules on falsified content, Twitter has marked a post shared by US President Donald Trump as “manipulated”. Trump had posted a misleading video clip of an election campaign event by Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden on his Twitter channel.
Today Twitter added the term “manipulated medium” to the video. The video was an excerpt from a campaign speech by Bidens in the US state of Missouri. Biden had said there with regard to the intra-party rivalries with the US Democrats: „We can only re-elect Donald Trump if we really indulge in this self-destruction here.“
White House department head for social media communications Dan Scavino later posted a video snippet on Twitter in which Biden only seemed to say, „We can only re-elect Donald Trump.“ Trump shared Scavino’s post. Scavino responded to the Twitter tag with a denial. The video was not manipulated, he wrote.
