The Turkish government sends a thousand additional police officers to the border with Greece. These should „prevent“ the Greek government from „pushing back“ refugees trying to cross the Evros border river, Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu said during a visit to the border area today. The police are a fully equipped special unit.
The situation on the border has deteriorated since Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at the weekend that the Turkish border with the European Union is open to migrants and refugees.
