US President Donald Trump has dismissed a newspaper report stating that details of bilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin against high-level government officials were „ridiculous.“ He had a „great talk“ with Putin in Helsinki, Trump told Fox News yesterday evening (local time).
Asked why there was no report on the nearly two-hour interview, Trump said he did not „lock up anything.“ „I really do not care.“ Everyone could have listened to the conversation, he added.
„WSJ“: Five Putin Meetings in Focus
There are no detailed records of five meetings with Putin over the past two years, the Washington Post reported, citing current and former government officials. In one case, the US President even confiscated the notes of the interpreter and forbade him to pass on the content of the conversation. There is no detailed report, according to the Washington Post, for the first official summit meeting between Trump and Putin in July 2018 in Helsinki.
Trump once again told Fox News that there had been no collusion during his presidential campaign in 2016. He was simply a better candidate than his Democrat rival Hillary Clinton.
