US President Donald Trump once again faces charges of sexual violence: US journalist E. Jean Carroll accuses Trump of trying to force her into sex in a dressing room in the mid-1990s. The incident occurred in 1995 or 1996, writes the 75-year-old in her new book, from which „New York Magazine“ yesterday printed extracts.
The journalist, who is known for her column in the magazine „Elle“, met the former real estate entrepreneur by his own account in the New York luxury department store Bergdorf Goodman. Trump asked her to advise him on the purchase of lingerie for an unspecified woman. He had resorted to a transparent lace body and suggested to try it on. She had jokingly suggested to Trump to try on the body herself and went to a dressing room with him.
White House rejects allegations
„When the door closed, he lunged at me, pushing me against the wall,“ Carroll wrote. Trump had pressed his mouth against her lips, pulled down her pantyhose, opened his pants and had penetrated her. She had finally been able to free herself and had fled the locker room.
The White House dismissed the allegations, according to „New York Magazine“. A speaker called the depictions „completely wrong and unrealistic“. The allegations only served to „make the president look bad“.
Trump: Never met Carroll
Trump himself said he never met Carroll. „She’s trying to sell a new book – that should indicate her motivation. It should be sold in the fiction section. „Trump’s statement continued,“ I thank Bergdorf Goodman for confirming that they have no video footage of such an incident because it never happened. “
