Brazil has overtaken Great Britain in the number of people infected with CoV. This is evident from the latest data from the Ministry of Health in Brasilia. In the largest country in Latin America, with 210 million inhabitants, 254,220 people have been infected with the corona virus, and 244,995 have so far been in Great Britain.
16,792 people have been killed in Brazil in connection with the virus. According to data from the US-based Johns Hopkins University, the country is continental in size sixth in the number of fatalities, and third in the number of the worst affected countries ahead of the UK and behind the United States USA and Russia.
The unreported number of infected people is likely to be much higher due to, among other things, the lack of tests and laboratory results that have not yet been evaluated.
The structurally weak north and northeast of Brazil are the most affected after a survey of the G1 portal. The five cities with the highest infection rate and also the highest mortality rate are all located in the state of Amazonas. The city of Sao Paulo is still the most affected by the outbreak, with 63,066 cases and 4,823 deaths.
„Mega holiday“ as an anti-CoV measure
Because of the pandemic, the city of Sao Paulo has now moved several holidays from other months to this week. The city council decided this yesterday in an extraordinary meeting. One of the largest cities in Latin America, which is also one of the cities hardest hit by the corona virus, created a „mega-holiday“ from tomorrow to Monday. Experience has shown that on weekends and public holidays, more residents succeed in adhering to the restrictions of public life.
