Russian Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe did not discuss the subject of abolishing visas during the talks.
“No, it was not part of the past negotiations. But the topic of the abolition of visas often appears on the agenda of negotiations with various states, and, in fact, this is what we ultimately strive for, ”he told reporters.
He noted that the Kremlin certainly welcomes such discussions, and „this is in line with the general line on the further development of relations.“
Earlier, the Japanese newspaper Sankei, citing its own sources, wrote that the Japanese government was studying the issue of abolishing short-term entry visas for Russian citizens.
