Even today, citizens of other EU states can immigrate to look for a job in Germany. This is to change according to the wishes of the Federal Government: It plans an expansion of the legal immigration of non-EU foreigners.
First, on the basis of the so-called skilled workers immigration law, which is to be decided by the Bundestag before Christmas, migrant workers willing to work for the first time are allowed to enter the country, who have neither vocational training nor an offer for a job or apprenticeship.
The WELT present draft bill of the Federal Interior Ministry for the law, which is expected to be advised by the other participating ministries at the end of this week, provides: Foreigners can then be granted a six-month residence permit for training place search – if they are under 21 years old, speak German, a German Have completed school abroad and their livelihood is secured.
