The Czech Republic is now tightening the regulations for commuters who regularly cross the border to Austria because of the crisis. Commuters are still exempt from the entry and exit ban. From the weekend onwards, however, they will have to submit an „ID card for cross-border workers“.
The form can be downloaded from the Internet, as the Ministry of the Interior announced in Prague. The regulation also applies to the border with Germany.
The tightening was justified by the fact that the previous regulation was misused by people who did not commute every day. Border commuters are employees who work within a 100 km wide strip on both sides of the border.
