According to recent data from local authorities, at least 26 people have been killed in an attack on a hotel in Somalia attributed to al-Shabab terrorist militia. Among the dead are also Americans and a Brit, said Ahmed Mohamed, president of the region around the port city of Kismaju.
There, militants of al-Qaida militia had stormed the Hotel Medina, where local politicians discussed the upcoming regional election. The four attackers had been shot, a police representative said. He had previously quantified the death toll at 13.
The Islamist Al-Shabaab militia was expelled years ago from the capital Mogadishu. It still controls parts of the region around Kismaju in southern Somalia.
