Swimmers after shark bite on the Great Barrier Reef dead

After a bloody shark attack off the east coast of Australia, a swimmer died of his severe bite injuries. The 33-year-old had been flown last night (local time) with deep wounds on his arms and legs to the hospital and died there a few hours later, as the emergency services announced.

The Australian sailed from a private boat at Cid Harbor near the Whitsunday Islands and was surprised by the shark. Since the beginning of the year, it has been the country’s second death due to a shark attack.

The Whitsunday Islands are located at the southern end of the world’s largest coral reef, the Great Barrier Reef on Australia’s East Coast. There, a twelve-year-old girl and a 46-year-old woman had already been attacked by sharks in September. Both tourists survived. In October, a fisherman was bitten in the shoulder by a shark nearby.
