Southern Italy is also tightening the restrictive measures in view of the increasing number of Conavirus infections. Calabria and the island of Sardinia also want to introduce a night exit ban from midnight to 5 a.m. from the weekend. Sardinia is thinking of closing ports and airports for two weeks to prevent further sources of infection on the island.

In addition, distance learning is to be expanded in both Calabria and Sardinia in order to avoid too many students using public transport, Italian media reported.

The two southern Italian regions are thus following the example of the regions of Campania, Lombardy and Lazio with the capital Rome, which have already decided on a night curfew in the past few days. In Piedmont and Lombardy, shopping centers are closed on weekends. Supermarkets stay open.
Rome: Raggi relies on private bus companies

To relieve the pressure on public transport, the Roman mayor Virginia Raggi decided to rely on private bus companies. The municipality wants to use tourist buses. For this, more vehicles should be on the routes with more passengers. The aim is to reduce the number of passengers in local public transport during rush hour.

In the meantime, the government wants to try to increase the daily tests carried out from the current 170,000 to 400,000 per day. General practitioners should also be able to carry out rapid tests in their practices.
