A villa in Monaco has been offered for sale by luxury real estate broker Sotheby’s International Real Estate for a record 110 million euros. The Villa L’Echauguette is one of the last houses from the Belle Époque in the Principality. It lies on a ledge and is sold unfurnished. The house once belonged to the family of Francois Blanc, the founder of the famous Casino Monte-Carlo.
Even for the small city-state on the Mediterranean, where house prices averaged 41,335 euros per square meter, the price was exceptional, confirmed Sotheby’s. The living area of 700 square meters spreads over six floors, surrounded by 550 square meters of land and swimming pool.
Built in the early 20th century, this pink neoclassical villa was one of the few in Monaco that was not converted into an apartment block or office building. The exact year of construction is unclear, but the house is mentioned in a reference book about Monaco from the year 1903.
