Smugglers dropped children from US border wall

US border guards have rescued two young children who had been dropped from a four-meter high wall by people smugglers on the border with Mexico. The border protection agency CBP announced yesterday (local time) that there were two girls aged three and five from Ecuador. The sisters had been examined in the hospital and are temporarily in the care of the authorities until they are handed over to authorities from the Ministry of Health.

Border guards observed the incident near Santa Teresa, New Mexico, and came to the aid of the children. Border patrol released a video that showed a man sitting on the border fence and lifting one girl over the barrier and then the other and dropping it on the US side. The girls are left alone in the dark. The smugglers run away on the other side of the border.

US Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas condemned the procedure: „The inhumane way in which people smugglers abuse children and profit from the desperation of their parents is criminal and morally reprehensible.“
