Several people were killed in an Israeli missile attack on neighboring civil war-torn Syria. The Syrian air defense launched several missiles south of the capital Damascus this morning, the state news agency SANA reported.
In two places, three civilians were killed by falling rocket fragments, it was said. Three people were injured, including one child.
The Syrian Human Rights Observatory said that at least four militants from pro-Iranian militias had also died. The attack targeted positions of armed groups, including the Lebanese Shiite militia Hezbollah. The Observatory is based in the UK and relies on a network of whistleblowers in Syria. Your information can often hardly be checked by an independent party.
An Israeli military spokeswoman refused to comment on the reports. The missiles were fired from Lebanese airspace, according to security circles there.
