In the camp of Pazarkule on the Greek-Turkish border, fires broke out in numerous places at night today for unknown reasons. Security forces on the Greek side were put on alert. However, there was no rush to the fence, as the Greek radio and reporters reported from there.
Greek media reported that the police had information that the Turkish government was gradually taking people from the border region back home, as Turkish President Erdogan’s action to release refugees to the EU failed.
Turkey declared at the end of February that the border with the European Union was open to refugees. As a result, thousands of people set out to get from Turkey to Greece and thus to the EU. Greece did not let them pass. Greek police officers estimate that there are now only a few hundred people left on the Turkish side of the border.
