A fire in a karaoke center in Malaysia has killed at least six people today. The fire broke out in the morning on the fourth floor of an eight-story building in the city of Ipoh, as the fire chief in the northern state of Perak said. Among the dead were three foreigners.

The rescue workers had found six people at the scene of the disaster, who had died of smoke poisoning. Eight more people were saved, but two of them were in mortal danger. The foreigners killed were two Vietnamese and one from Bangladesh.

The victims would not have found the way out of the inferno because the power had failed. Therefore, the signposts to the outputs in the building with a total of 30 karaoke rooms on two floors were not lit, said the fire chief.
