Italy’s interior minister and leader of the right-wing ruling party Lega, Matteo Salvini, has today denied that the Italian government plans to leave the euro. „The exit from the euro area is not included in the government program and does not meet our expectations,“ Salvini assured according to the media.

Salvini denied media rumors that the Italian government was planning to spend „mini-bots“. These are government vouchers, with which the Italian state should pay company services and see the experts as a possible parallel currency to the euro. „We use alternative currencies in Monopoly games,“ commented Salvini.

On 31 May, the Italian Chamber of Deputies approved a motion by the coalition parties to oblige the government to examine whether the state could pay company services with state-issued vouchers. The adoption of the motion had sparked heated discussions.
