Almost 190 refugees have been discovered on three boats off the southern Spanish coast and brought to safety. Previously, two boats with a total of 119 people were sighted on board.
The inmates, all from sub-Saharan Africa, were brought to Malaga, where they were received by a Red Cross team, the aid agency said on Twitter.
Third boat missing
A third boat, which had set sail in Morocco with the other two, was initially missing. Emergency services searched the sea for hours before a cargo ship discovered the 69-person boat south of Malaga, the Europa Press news agency said, citing government officials.
All inmates were rescued by the Spanish sea rescue and taken to the port of Motril in the Andalusian province of Granada.
Almost 40 women and ten minors were among those saved since yesterday. All are reported to be in good condition. Time and again people from Morocco try to reach the Spanish coast via the western Mediterranean.
