According to official information from Damascus, four soldiers from the Syrian government troops were injured in Israeli air strikes in Syria.
The attacks in the vicinity of the capital Damascus during the night had also „caused some material damage,“ reported the state news agency SANA today, citing the army. Syrian air defense intercepted most of the missiles. SANA did not provide any details about the attacks.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, based in the UK, said the attacks destroyed an arsenal that was under Iranian control. The Observatory gets its information from a network of informants in Syria. The information provided by the organization can often hardly be verified by an independent party.
Since the beginning of the civil war in Syria ten years ago, the Israeli military has carried out hundreds of air strikes against the Syrian government forces and their allies. Israel wants to prevent Iran from expanding its influence in Syria. The Israeli government and the army rarely confirm military operations in the neighboring country.
