According to media reports, Israel has approved the construction of nearly 2,200 new settler apartments in the West Bank. The Israel Peace Organization Peace Now also reported on the blueprints. A spokesman for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the reports are under investigation.

According to Peace Now, 2,191 new housing units are to be created in settlements in the Palestinian territories. 87 percent of them are in isolated settlements.
Peace Now: „No interest in two-state solution“

„Anyone who builds this place has no intention of achieving peace settlement and a two-state solution,“ a statement by Peace Now said. „The latest announcement shows that Netanyahu is ready to sacrifice Israeli interests to make the settlers an election gift.“ Israel will elect a new parliament on April 9, Netanyahu met with senior settler representatives today.

Israel conquered the West Bank and East Jerusalem in 1967 during the Six-Day War. There live more than 600,000 Israeli settlers in more than 200 settlements today. The Palestinians want to found an independent state in the field. In December 2016, the UN Security Council called on Israel to stop completely in the occupied Palestinian territories including East Jerusalem.
