The French carmaker Renault has reported in the payment of his boss Carlos Ghosn (64) claims to be no irregularities or fraud detected. The investigation concerns the years 2017 and 2018; the years before would now be reviewed, the manufacturer announced yesterday in Boulogne-Billancourt near Paris after a board meeting.
Ghosn is in custody in Japan. The local prosecutor accuses him of having spent too much years on incomes. He is also accused of having transferred losses on foreign exchange hedging transactions during the global financial crisis of 2008/2009 to the Renault-affiliated manufacturer Nissan. Ghosn, who had been a senior Nissan manager, had protested his innocence in court.
No name
Ghosn was not named in the Renault message. The internal pay investigation concerned the Executive Committee, which includes other top executives besides Ghosn. Ghosn has retained his title as „president-directeur general“ at Renault. The operative business is led by his deputy Thierry Bollore. The French state, which owns 15 percent of Renault’s shares, has not yet indicated that Ghosn should be replaced.
