The preliminary ruling concerns iPhones 6S to X. The ruling comes from the Fuzhou Intermediate People’s Court in China, the same court that banned the import of some memory chips from Micron Technology Inc. into China earlier this year. Qualcomm had filed the application in China towards the end of 2017.
Apple already denies the scope of the ban, since it only applies to iPhones running on an older operating system.
„Qualcomm’s bid to ban our products is another desperate move by a company whose illegal practices are being investigated by regulators around the world,“ Apple said in a statement.
„All iPhone models continue to be available to our customers in China Qualcomm is claiming three patents it has never previously filed, including one that has already been invalidated, and we will pursue all legal options through the courts. „
