The sale of Neue Halberg Guss (NHG) is on the verge. A spokesman said on behalf of the Prevent Group on Friday, they would use the „contractual right of withdrawal“: „The announced a few weeks ago remedial measures with a reduction of more than 200 jobs in Saarbrücken and the closure of the plant in Leipzig on 31 March 2019 will have to start at short notice. „The reason given was that the major customer, Volkswagen, by means of a seizure order, was claiming rights to the NHG assets. Important foundations of the decided sale to a consortium are no longer given.
VW rejected this interpretation. „The safeguards have no impact on the sale of the NHG,“ said a spokeswoman. The amount in dispute relates to the purchase price that Prevent claimed, not to the total value of the company’s assets. „The factories could immediately produce under new leadership, while Volkswagen and Prevent can clarify the claims.“ The reversal of the sale was „completely incomprehensible.“
Prevent: VW provides seizure proceedings
According to Prevent, which is controlled by the Bosnian-German family Hastor, the Wolfsburg car maker has filed an application for the seizure procedure at the Regional Court of Braunschweig. The court was not reached on Friday evening at first for a possible confirmation. „Through this step, an essential condition for the sale of the operating business of Neue Halberg Guss is no longer met,“ said Prevent. VW, on the other hand, emphasized that the proceedings had been filed because of the far too high product prices that NHG had demanded during the course of the year.
At the end of November, the takeover of NHG was actually sealed by another group, which is advised by the Munich restructuring consultant „One Square Advisors“. NHG employees now have the opportunity to switch to new companies. The sale gives the chance to a fresh start, said Bernd Kruppa, First Representative of IG Metall Leipzig. The provincial governments of Saxony and Saarland also received positive reactions.
The Hastor family had fought bitterly with VW for delivery terms. The Prevent Group announced that it would close the plant in Leipzig with 700 employees by the end of 2019. In addition, several hundred jobs were to be cut in Saarbrücken.
