To enforce the coronavirus measures, the police on Mallorca are now using a helicopter against unruly bathers. The plane flew low over beaches on the weekend evening in order to enforce the ordered nightly closure from 9 p.m., as the newspaper „Diario de Mallorca“ reported.

„Clear the beaches,“ the police asked people over loudspeakers. Video footage showed how bathers fled from the beach towards the promenade in view of the volume and the strong winds under the rotor of the helicopter.

At the end of August, the regional government of the Balearic Islands ordered restrictions on public life such as the nightly closure of beaches and parks between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. due to the sharp rise in the number of infections.
