In Hong Kong, around 230 protesters have been arrested in recent protests against the government. As the Hong Kong police department said today, they were provisionally detained in several of the city’s shopping centers during the protests yesterday.
The protesters who were arrested and later released would have violated assembly restrictions or hampered public order.
The previous day, the police had announced that they had fined dozens of people for demonstrators who failed to comply with the distance rules to contain the corona virus.
Hong Kong has seen demonstrations almost every week since last summer. However, there were hardly any protests over a longer period during the pandemic. Now that the virus seems to be under control in Hong Kong, there are demonstrations again, which have so far been much smaller than before the outbreak of the pandemic.
