US President Donald Trump has openly questioned whether the opposition vice-presidential candidate Kamala Harris, as the daughter of immigrants, should occupy the second-highest position in the state. When asked about a corresponding conspiracy theory at a press conference, Trump said yesterday in the White House that he had „heard that it did not meet the requirements“.
Harris was born in 1964 in the US state of California as the daughter of immigrants from Jamaica and India. The Senator is now a US citizen and can become Vice President.

“I have no idea if that’s true,” the president said. He would have expected the opposition Democrats to „check this out before she (Harris) is selected as a candidate for Vice President.“ The question is „very serious“, he will „look at“ it. The president described a lawyer who had spread the theory about Harris as a „highly qualified, very talented“ lawyer.
Main proponent of the „Birther“ theory
Trump has been one of the main proponents of the „Birther“ theory, which was widespread in right-wing circles. According to this theory, with its racist undertones, former President Barack Obama was not born in the United States and should not have become President.
Trump and others vehemently demanded the publication of Obama’s birth certificate – a demand that the Hawaii-born president finally complied.
