Israel has released the official end result of the March 2 general election. Nothing changes in the political stalemate after the third election within a year.
The right-wing conservative Likud party of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu became the strongest force with 36 out of 120 seats, as the Central Election Committee wrote on its website today. However, the right-wing religious camp around the Likud with 58 seats failed to meet the necessary government majority of 61.
The center alliance blue and white of ex-military chief Benni Ganz came to 33 seats, the center-left camp to 55 seats. The ultra-right ex-defense minister Avigdor Lieberman received seven mandates with Yisrael Beitenu. He is again the tip of the scales. The third strongest force in parliament was the United Arab List with 15 mandates.
