
For the first time in Germany, more than 20,000 new infections with the coronavirus have been registered within a single day.
The health authorities in Germany reported 21,506 new infections to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) within 24 hours. That is based on information from the RKI this morning. On Friday a week ago, the number of new infections reported was 18,681.
According to the RKI, a total of 619,089 people across Germany have been infected with SARS-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic (as of November 6, 00:00). The number of deaths related to the virus rose 166 to date to a total of 11,096. The RKI estimates that around 402,500 people have now recovered.
