
Number of glyphosate claimants has risen to around 11,200
The number of plaintiffs against Bayer over Roundup’s herbicide Glyphosate has further increased. By 28 January, the daughter Monsanto in the US lawsuits were served by about 11,200 plaintiffs, said Bayer today at the balance sheet press conference.
Most recently, this number was 9,300 plaintiffs and plaintiffs. Bayer was also in January a Canadian lawsuit in connection with Roundup of Monsanto has been served, in which the application for a class action is sought, it said in the Annual Report.
Against Bayer was on Monday in the US, a groundbreaking trial because of the alleged carcinogenic effect of the weed killer started. Bayer has denied the allegations, pointing out that regulatory authorities around the world consider glyphosate safe when properly used.
