Norway’s Prime Minister Erna Solberg has praised the citizens of her country for their cohesion in the coronavirus crisis and sworn to another show of strength. In a televised address to mark the anniversary of the coronavirus measures in Norway, Solberg said yesterday that the pandemic was not over.

„There is another mountain peak (to be climbed), possibly with tougher measures,“ said the head of government. In the coming months, it will be a matter of keeping infection rates low while vaccinating. Tomorrow Solberg should inform parliament about the pandemic situation and any new measures.

Compared to many other countries, Norway came through the crisis relatively well, although thousands had lost their jobs and many mourned loved ones, said the conservative party leader in her address. Norway has recorded around 73,000 infections and around 630 deaths among the sick among its 5.3 million inhabitants since the beginning of the pandemic.
