The North Korean leader Kim Jong Un wants to travel for the first time in the New Year for talks in the South Korean capital Seoul. The goal is the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula, Kim said in a letter that became known today to South Korean President Moon Jae In.
He regrets that he did not come to Seoul as agreed in the year that ended. But Kim expressed his „strong determination“ to catch up in the new year.
In recent months, and after several summits, relations between the two countries have eased. The Korean countries are still in a state of war. The fighting ended in 1953 with a truce. But there is no peace treaty.
