According to the country, the renewed firing of projectiles by North Korea yesterday is said to have been another test of „long-range artillery“. A further exercise on the firepower of „long-range artillery“ has taken place, the state-run North Korean news agency KCNA reported today.
The exercise was supervised by ruler Kim Jong Un, the report said. He had expressed his high esteem for the „perfect readiness to fight“ of the armed forces.
USA: avoid provocations
The South Korean army had announced yesterday that several storeys had been fired from the area of the North Korean city of Sondok in an easterly direction over the Japanese Sea. According to the South Korean data, several types of rocket launchers were tested. The US State Department asked Pyongyang to „avoid provocation“ and to abide by the UN Security Council resolutions.
It was the second time in a week that North Korea fired missiles over the sea. Even for the first time, according to the North Korean state media, it was a „long-range artillery“ exercise. The South Korean military, however, assumes that they were two short-range ballistic missiles.
