North Korea has confirmed the test of two medium-range missiles. Ruler Kim Jong Un has monitored the launch of the new missiles, the North Korean news agency KCNA reported today. South Korea saw missile launch as a demonstrative demonstration of military strength in the face of joint US and South Korean maneuvers.
Both countries had yesterday started the military exercises, which take place largely in the form of a computer simulation and are scheduled for the ten days. North Korea sees the maneuvers as a dress rehearsal for a war.
A North Korean diplomat said after a KCNA report that there would be no inter-Korean talks while the maneuvers continued. Officially, the two Korean states are still at war.
