After two weeks on the Mediterranean, the two aid ships of German activists with dozens of refugees on board continue to find no open port. „The situation is still the same,“ said a spokesman for the NGO Sea-Watch yesterday the news agency AFP.
The „Sea Watch 3“ was exposed to heavy seas off the coast of Malta. There are 32 refugees on the ship, including three children rescued from Libya on 22 December. On board the second ship of German activists, the „Professor Albrecht Penck“, there are 17 refugees. The ship is operated by the Sea-Eye organization.
Malta, Italy and Spain refuse to accept refugees. Germany and the Netherlands agreed only on condition that other countries join. Several German and Italian cities expressed their willingness to accept the people aboard the ships.
