In the British Parliament, opposition to Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s plans for a Brexit without a contract is growing. He would fight for the fact that Parliament is involved in all cases in the decisions, announced parliament speaker John Bercow in an interview of the newspaper „Telegraph“ (Wednesday edition).

Fears that the European Parliament might be bypassed on leaving the EU are the message of Johnson’s chief adviser Dominic Cummings. He had stated that Johnson could delay a new election after a lost vote of no confidence and enforce a disorderly Brexit, while the parliament was dissolved in an interim phase

„Will take action against it with determination“

If there were attempts to evade or even close Parliament, he would „resolutely oppose it,“ Bercow said. Former Treasury Secretary Philip Hammond warned the Times newspaper „Johnson“ of destroying the chances of a regulated Brexit with a cabinet of „unelected people“. Hammond said that Johnson does not appear to be on the right track to reach an agreement with the EU.

A Brexit without a contract is feared both in the UK and in the EU, because in the case with violent economic setbacks is expected. Johnson has announced that he will move his country out of the EU by 31 October at the latest. If there is no new Brexit treaty by then, Britain will leave without one.

Johnson rejects the Brexit Treaty, negotiated by his predecessor Theresa May, as well as a majority of the parliament. However, there is also a majority in the lower house against an exit without agreement. The EU rejects renegotiation of the present Brexit Treaty.
