In the event of the death of a person vaccinated against Covid-19 in the Swiss canton of Lucerne, according to the Swiss Medicines Institute, Swissmedic, no connection with the vaccination is apparent. Clarifications by the cantonal health authorities and Swissmedic would have resulted.
Due to the medical history and the course of the disease, a connection between the person’s death and the Covid-19 vaccination is highly unlikely, Swissmedic announced yesterday. According to Swissmedic, a 91-year-old person in the canton of Lucerne who suffered from several serious previous illnesses died a few days after a Covid-19 vaccination in a retirement and nursing home.
No „direct causal relationship“
„Neither the medical history nor the acute course of the disease suggest a direct causal connection between the Covid 19 vaccination and death,“ informed Swissmedic. The comprehensive information available would point to the pre-existing diseases as a natural cause of death.
According to Swissmedic, vaccinations against the novel coronavirus have not resulted in any unknown side effects. At this point in time, there is no evidence of a change in the benefit-risk profile of the vaccine used.
